September 15 - October 15 is Latino Heritage Month. Our school is working hard to appreciate Latino Culture. Our class has been reading books like, Hello Amigos, Chato's Kitchen, y Abuela.
We will be making Amate, which is traditional folk art from Mexico that are paintings on bark. These mini-lessons are great introductions into our next unit Tradition, Culture, Then and Now! This is a great time if you would like to come in and share with our class something that honors your culture, be it a tradition or read aloud. We will be working on this unit until the beginning of winter recess.
Please come celebrate Latino Heritage Month with our school next Friday at 6:30pm. Bring a dish and learn how to salsa! This is a great opportunity to meet new families!
